June 2008 Newsletter
It’s hard to believe it’s June already! It seems like we were just starting the first day of school. All of the children have grown so much over the months! They’ve learned so many new skills, made friends, tried new things, and gained self-confidence! We’re proud of all of them!
A big Thank-You to Mindi Snider and Julia Parete for the workshop on Kids & Stress. It was very informative and fun for everyone who participated. It’s easy to forget that children can experience stress over many of the same things we do!
Please help! The grass on the playground is getting very long! We’re looking for someone who’d be willing to mow the playground for us. Talk to Carol or Debbie if you think you can.
Also, our last parent meeting will be Tuesday, June 17th at 6:30. We’ll get the results from Big Fun and talk about some ideas for next year. If anyone is interested in helping co-chair the parent committee next year, let us know. Julia Parete and Sue Peters have done a great job! Sue will need some help for next year!
Sibling Night will be Wednesday, June 4th for MWF and Thursday, June 5th for TTH from 6:30-7:30 pm. Each child is invited to bring their siblings for a special project, snack and play. Yes, parents do need to stay! Have those brothers and sisters start practicing the TCNS songs!
The last day of class this year will be June 20th and graduation will be that evening at 7:00 in the big room upstairs. Graduates should arrive around 6:50. If possible, please bring a plate of cookies to share for after the ceremony. You are welcome to invite friends and family to attend.
We have some great books planned for the last few weeks. We’ll start off with Knuffle Bunny Too! by Mo Willems. It’s a great story about a child misplacing her lovey and the illustrations are really neat. We’ll try an art project in Mo Willems style and also trace and decorate our own lovey. We’ll also be taking a community walk this week with TTh, and visiting the kindergarten (on a bus!) with MWF. Next we’ll read a wonderful father’s day tribute; Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle. We’ll make jellyfish and underwater pictures, plus a special father’s day gift. For our last week we’ll read Jamberry by Bruce Degen. This book is full of fun rhymes and we’ll be baking berry muffins and trying to paint with berries. We’re also hoping to schedule a field trip to the strawberry patch if the berries are ripe!
We’ve had a wonderful year at TCNS, with a great bunch of children and parents! Congratulations to all the children going on to kindergarten. We will miss them! And we look forward to seeing all the returning students in September. Have a wonderful summer!!!
